It’s already a new year which means Tax Season is Here!
Overspending during the holidays with gifts for loved ones, family and friends, you may be looking forward to receiving a tax refund check. But beware – tax identity theft is when someone uses your social security number to file a phony tax return to collect your refund. Unfortunately, you’ll only discover this problem when you try to file your own legitimate tax return.
Because of this, the Federal Trade Commission has identified the week of February 3-7 as Tax Identity Theft Awareness Week. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is providing lots of resources this week on how to stop tax identity thieves. Check out the infographic and video below!
