Don’t Get into a Sticky Situation Over Stimulus Checks

Scammers are using the COVID-19 pandemic to steal people’s money, personal information, or both!

Millions of Americans will soon be receiving at least $1,200 from the government, and scammers know it. Consumers are receiving fake e-mails or calls saying, “This is the IRS… We need your private information to send you your economic stimulus money.”

Just remember, the IRS will never call or e-mail you for your bank account number. The department is using tax information to send you the money.

Never give personal information to any phone call or e-mail that claims to be from a government agency. If you aren’t sure, call the entity directly (from a number or website you obtain on your own) to verify.
